Why Study Spanish in Sámara Beach?
Founded by Laura Ellington and Adelita Jímenez, Intercultura Spanish School has been growing since 1993 by listening and acting on what students have to say. We've maintained our original mission to give students a superior level of service while they study Spanish and experience all that Costa Rica has to offer and we continually are looking for ways to improve our students' experiences. In 2001, we opened the Playa Sámara beach campus, located directly on Costa Rica's Pacific Coast.
What our Spanish Courses Offer
At Intercultura, we believe that the best way to study Spanish includes a diverse and enriched curriculum along with cultural experiences to make an easy transition from your first language to Spanish! You will enjoy studying Spanish in class, during daily cultural activities, in your homestay family and in the community.
High standards
Our Spanish teachers are certified through Costa Rican Universities and the government and are outstanding at what they do. They work closely with you, ensuring excellent, interesting and practical classes that enhance language development. We offer small classes with 6 students maximum and use the communicative approach of language teaching which encourages fully engaged students and getting them on the road to successful language learning! Our methodology encourages students to speak as much Spanish as possible so our teachers use the 80/20 rule - teachers only speak 20% of the time while Spanish students speak 80% of the time. Between our home stays with ‘Tico’ (Costa Rican) families and our intensive classes you’ll be speaking Spanish right away!
Two great campuses
Intercultura Spanish Language School offers students the freedom to study at its busy, colonial city campus in Heredia or our beautiful beach campus in Sámara. Many students choose to study at both locations, fully embracing the different cultures Costa Rica offers, as well as to experience our varied offerings at each campus.
